Oh, My LOVELY sweet tooth!

I have one of the worst sweet-tooths (?) in the world...ok, maybe not the world, but I do have quite the sweet tooth.  Ask anyone who knows me!  As such, I consider myself somewhat of a candy expert.  So, it should come as NO surprise that when I was given the opportunity to review Lovely candy, my sweet tooth answered the call....My tooth and I jumped at the chance!

Oh the wonderful package of LOVELY yummyness that arrived in the mail!  Some didn't even make it long enough to take a picture before I had to sample them!  There are so many wonderful flavors to choose one!  What is even better....IT IS GLUTEN and GMO free!!!  Celiac's everywhere REJOICE!!

So I know that Christmas and the Holiday's are pretty much over, but these are so VERY good, that you really shouldn't need a reason to have to get these...although if you need one, check out daysoftheyear.com .  I would have loved a stocking full of these sweet bits of goodness!

AdoramaPix makes metal look like GLASS! My new favorite printing company!

I had the wonderful opportunity to try and review 2 of the MANY products that AdoramaPix has to offer!  Check out my original post HERE.

When my metal print (pictured below) arrived, I couldn't believe how great the picture is!  This is printed on METAL....yep...METAL.  Yet it looks like it is glass!  It reflects light beautifully (but not so great for me taking the picture....hence the weird angle) and the picture is so sharp and crisp.  I was amazed with how great it turned out!  If you sign up for an account with them (free), you will be notified of upcoming sales (they have had so many this Christmas season!)

I also  got to try their cards.  I am totally impressed with the quality...and the cute shape they were able to make!  They were certainly a big hit (and most talked about Christmas card).  The cardstock they use is very nice!

Olde Westport spice & trading co makes cooking so much better!

As I mentioned HERE, I was able to try some of the wonderful products from the Olde Westport spice & trading co.

The quality and flavors are incredible!  I felt like the flavors made my cooking TOP NOTCH!  Each spice was packaged well, but the flavors were certainly the star.  The blends were my favorite!  They have so many to choose from (Italian, Cajun, Taco, Fajita, Chili, Jalapeno, Beef Sauce, Salsa, Garlic and many more).  I think my favorite (and most used) was the Gold Coast Garlic Shake spice blend.  I used it on EVERYTHING I could.  I even used it on veggies.  The CHILI SPICE BLEND is also FABULOUS!!!

Nitro Circus in Salt Lake City, UT

NITRO CIRCUS!!!

As I mentioned HERE Nitro Circus came to town.

What a super fun night we had attending the Nitro Circus!  This could give any mother a heart attack....  and gives new meaning to "look mom!  NO HANDS!"

The adrenaline was pumping through the whole stadium as the people flew down ramps and super high into the air!  I would get butterflies in my stomach watching them.

One guy on a motocross bike did "the worm" move as he sailed through the air holding onto the back of his motorcycle.  Another got the idea to have multiple people on the bike...up to 3 people on one motorcycle....and do a flip!

They would show videos of the MANY wipeouts and tragedys that happen in this dangerous sport.  One of them was when a man landed wrong, and broke his spine.  He is now paralyzed from the waist down.  That didn't stop him though.  OH NO!  They got him off his wheelchair, strapped him ONTO the motorcycle...and he still continues to ride...and flip!
This was my attempt at capturing the 20 riders upside down at the same time...not very successful.

One of my FAVORITE moments was when they had EVERY one of the people in the show UPSIDE DOWN....AT THE SAME TIME!!!  There were 20 riders!  OMGoodness!  It was incredible!

They didn't just ride bikes, scooters and rollerblades...they got bathtubs, whiskey barrels, wheelbarrows, snowmobiles, skiis, an armchair couch thing, and many other crazy things!  They even did piggy back rides...with flips!

They were in SLC as their second to last stop for the year, but they will begin again in 2016!  So get your tickets NOW!

If you go:

1. Bring ear plugs, because the volume is SUPER LOUD!
2. Note that there was a little bit of crude-ish language.  It wasn't TERRIBLE, but noteworthy none the less.
3. Through the show (as they set up for the next part), they show images from OLD circuses.  Some of them were a little disturbing...but you can just not watch the screen while that is going on.
4. There was a just a couple times when guys would make a crude gesture.

Overall, we had a WONDERFUL time!  It was amazing to see these talented athletes!

Thanks for the tickets, nitro circus, so I was able to write a review!

Ella blog tour
About the book:
Reserved yet resilient, Ella Blakeley lives with her cruel stepmother and stepsisters, without hope of escape—until the day Prince Kenton announces a ball that changes everything. Even without mice, magic, or fairy godmothers, Ella might discover a life that’s better than she ever dreamed. This intricately woven twist on Cinderella is an enchanting book you won’t be able to put down.

About the author:
Jessilyn Stewart Peaslee was born the fourth of seven children to a family of avid readers, movie quoters, and sports fanatics. She graduated with a degree in English from Brigham Young University in 2004. She is a mother of five rambunctious, adorable boys and while you read this, she is probably folding laundry . . . or should be.

From Reidhead Randomness:

This was such a fun book!  My daughters (ages 13 and 11) read it and loved it!  It was a newer version of Cinderella.  It has lots of surprises, and familiar Cinderella things, but it is a super fun...NEW take on the story we all know so well.  It is well written, and a fun book to read!  It would be a great one for the Christmas break!

From Reidhead Randomness:

The DREADED 'B' Word!!!  It strikes fear into my heart faster than anything.....it makes my heart sink to the pit of my stomach, tears come to my eyes, panic course through my veins!!!  What is the dreaded 'B' word,  you ask....that would cause such emotion?  The word is BUDGET!  AHhhh!!!  My screams can be heard throughout all the land!

I am sure most of us could use some help with our daily finances...whether its grocery bills, smart shopping, or meal planning!  Living a Beautiful Life on Less is organized from what she feels is most important, to lesser importance.  It begins with the knee weakening BUDGET...right out of the gate!  The rest of the chapters weren't as brutal to me....How to cut your grocery bill, menu planning, debt, etc.  My MOST favorite sections were the 100 family fun night activities, and the 100 date night ideas for the year.  The ideas are great...and they will get you out of your "date rut."

This was a wonderful book that had many ideas and tips to be successful in your 'B' word, and may other FABULOUS areas!

I received a copy of the book in order to write my review, however all opinions expressed are my own.

From Reidhead Randomness:

Sometimes I get caught up in the "Holiday Spirit"...but the more material/superficial aspects of it.  Each year, I try to keep our family focused on the REAL meaning of Christmas.  It can be a challenge, as there are always SALES, DEALS, and Specials that are vying for your attention, and holiday money.  I was grateful for this cute book that helps remind us of the days of simpler Christmases, and help us focus on the things that matter the most...family and the gospel.  The story and illustrations make this a MUST read for your family during the holiday season.

From Reidhead Randomness:
This inspiring, quick read will take you on the journey and trials of Brother Wain Myers as he moves from the Baptist Preacher life, to a brother in the Priesthood (in the LDS church).  It is so touching as he shares his experiences and testimony.  As the book goes back and forth between his Baptist life, and his LDS life, the story of each religion is shared with insightful perspective.  The wonderful, tender moments of life that Brother Myers shares is what makes this book so endearing.  In chapter 16, there is great advice to parents that have been through divorce, and how to handle 'exes.'   What a wonderful, though provoking, and inspiring book!

Book Review: Out of the Ashes

Out-of-the-Ashes-Blog-BannerAbout the book:
When Ashelandra’s father dies, she ends up a servant in her own house, instead of the Baroness she was supposed to become. But Ash’s secret sorcery could be the key to winning back her home and following her heart to a future she never imagined. This fantasy-infused Cinderella story puts a magical twist on a classic tale. Riveting and original, it’s a spellbinding read.

About the author:
Alicia Buck was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on a cold November day and has hated the cold ever since. Luckily, she lives in the desert now with her husband, Jason, and three children. Alicia loves to read, and goes through book craze phases where she reads a book a day until guilt kicks in and she tries to do something productive like get back to work writing and fix the disaster her home has become. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s in English, and had to constantly defend her major when she had absolutely no desire to teach. Out of the Ashes is Alicia’s second novel.

Book Review: Finding Peace

Finding Peace blog tourAbout the book:
What can you do when family members turn away from your cherished faith? How can you move from such powerful disappointment to a place of  peace? This book takes a thoughtful look at how you can face your new reality, hold on to hope, and stay connected with children who exercise agency in ways you would not choose for them. Uplifting and encouraging, this book is perfect for helping parents and grandparents alike to find the seemingly elusive peace they seek.

About the author:
Robin Zenger Baker has a psychology degree from Stanford University, an Organizational Behavior Master’s degree from BYU, and a PhD in Organizational Strategy from UCLA. She is currently studying Family Therapy and Counseling at UMass Boston. She has written for the Ensign magazine, and has edited and co-authored multiple publications in the field of organizational behavior. She is a past president of the BYU Alumni Association Boston chapter, and currently works to raise funds for local inner city youth to attend church schools.

From Reidhead Randomness:
Agency is a gift from our Heavenly Father, but sometimes it is not always used for good.  As children grow up, and make choices, we don't always agree with them.  In this encouraging book, a wealth of advice is given, for keeping your family strong.  Also, advice for when to take action, and when to be still.  The scriptures, modern day revelation, and insights from "seasoned" parents are a big part of the book.  This is a great book to read for leaders in the youth organization, parents, and family of people that have make other choices.

I enjoyed the 6th chapter that talked about some of the things to do to heal from someone exercising their agency.  One of them is assuming that you will be sad for the rest of your life.  Since that is not really an option, you have to realize that you can control your own emotions, that time will heal the hurt, and the other persons actions don't have to determine your mood forever.  Then to realize that holding onto sadness doesn't make a lot of sense, because life has so much to be happy about.

About the Author:
Anita Joyce is the author of the Cedar Hill Farmhouse blog. Her expertise is in antiques, vintage items, rusty-crusty-chippy things, all things French, design, photography, and writing. She loves spending time with friends and family.

From Reidhead Randomness:

With and approachable, budget conscious attitude, this book is a wealth of wonderment!  It is overflowing with GREAT ideas, examples, and tips for decorating your home.  Usually when I think of home decorating, I think of EXPENSIVE...but in French Accents, it is VERY budget conscious.  There are so many fun things to spark your creative juices and get them flowing.  Anita Joyce, the author, wanted to convert her plain 70's suburban home into a country French retreat.  Unfortunately, she had 3 major obstacles: 1. She had only 1 French item.  2.  She had a tight budget.  3. She had no clue what made French design.  As she worked and studied, she gained a wealth of knowledge, that is so freely shared in this amazing book!  Most of the ideas are very affordable.  This great book is a resource to change your home from ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY!

From Reidhead Randomness:

Broken into simple, easy to read chapters, this uplifting book could easily be used as a daily devotional that will get you thinking about blessings in your life.  At the end of each little chapter are self examination questions (or journal writing prompts).  Inspiring stories, quotes from general authorities and scriptures, and insights abound in this small, but mighty book.  It will help you to count your blessings and tender mercies, instead of feeling abandoned and discouraged.  It will also help you to recognize the Lord's hand in your life.  On of my favorite writing prompts was "Whom do you know who's going through some challenges?  How can you lift that person?"  It also prompts you to thank, not only Heavenly Father, but also His children that provide help and answers to your prayers.  This will be a wonderfully uplifting 31 days!
